The month that was March 2016

Last updated: 16 July 2023

From the Roaming Required Archives. Here’s a flashback from the month that was March 2016

We’re a bit late to review March but I know there’s a few of you out there that have grown to liking these monthly wrap-ups.  So without further ado, this was March.

March was yet another month where house-sitting took place. This time we were in the North London suburb of Highgate. A leafy area, known for posh pubs and a pretty cool cemetery.

Meanwhile, in the blogging world, ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin) is the world’s largest tourism trade fair took place in Berlin.  For us, it meant madly juggling work schedules to try and attend.  Of course it’d mid week, and as such we couldn’t make it this year. Good reports from other bloggers put it on the list for next year.

No rest for the wicked…

Russ was back on the road with 16 days this month which didn’t leave much time to get out and about.  As you’d have it, Easter snuck in right at the tail end of March. We did have some other plans in the works, but as they do, glitches happen. Instead we used the time we had off and headed for Cornwall.

Four days in Cornwall in Spring sounds like a good idea, unless there’s a huge cold snap storm forecast. Gale force winds, rain doesn’t make for a fun outdoorsy trip to Cornwall!

Of course, this is exactly what happened. We took refuge at The Waymarker (closed in late 2020, new owners now operating Slice of Cornwall) for Cornish cream tea which is as good as you’d imagine. Here their locally sourced clotted cream so thick you could plaster a wall with it. Oh so good!

It's a delicious Cornish cream tea at The Waymarker. To confirm thats Cornish, so jam first then cream. Absolutely divine!

The last days of the month, the duo split. Russ back out on the road for another business trip and Roma headed to Gdańsk in Poland for three days.

What’s coming up in April?

Day light savings kicks in for the UK. While we’ll all feel slightly robbed of an hours sleep for a few days, daylight savings means longer days which is only a good thing.

Russ is hitting the road again for a few days, Roma’s representing Roaming Required at the annual Traverse conference in Cardiff. What’s Traverse? It’s a UK based annual blogger conference run by bloggers for bloggers.  Expect comradery and frivolity as hundreds of bloggers gather under one roof to swap stories, share industry secrets and more.

After that it’s a quick trip to Paris with Air France followed by the epic Baltic road trip. We’re hitting the road for ten days to explore the Baltic region of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Oh Paris, you're so pretty despite your ominous clouds looming overhead.

  1. Day light savings still means longer days, which is only a good thing.
