With it’s golden sandy beaches and glistening harbour, I love my sunburnt country and it’s still the place I call home. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that when Chris Christensen asked me to take part in his award winning podcast, Amateur Traveler, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Amateur Traveler is a hugely popular travel podcast with over a million downloads. This weekly audio podcast focuses primarily on destinations and the best places to travel. Already with over 500 episodes, it’s my go-to for insider tips on the popular and the obscure.

Being an expat in London has its challenges. I battle the yearning to be surrounded by water, the easy-going lifestyle, and basking in endless days of sunshine, it’s a city I miss very much. While I love London, I think I’m still a sun-loving beach girl at heart.

On the Sydney-centric episode (#537) of Amateur Traveler, I talk with Chris about my favourite aspects of Sydney. From the coastal walks around the foreshore to markets, The Rocks and burgeoning fusion food scene. We chat about the must-sees with the likes of the Manly ferry, famed Bondi to Coogee walk, the infamous bats of the Royal Botanic Gardens and more.

Don’t Miss

Dine by moonlight at a harbourside restaurant as boats gently bump against each other in the water.

Explore the coastline by boat and pass and repass the Sydney harbour bridge, nudging into little bays and have a sticky-beak at the houses of Sydney’s rich and famous.

Awe at, cruise under or climb over Sydney’s coat hanger, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Take a day trip out to the Blue Mountains. Bushwalk with an experienced guide or have tea at one of the many restored guesthouses and cafes. If you have time,  stay the night in the dense forest to hear it come alive.
