Everything’s Hip at B Square, Paris

Last updated: 23 June 2023

We found ourselves in Paris for the weekend and decided to stay outside our usual haunt, and try somewhere different. Enter B Square hotel. This charming three star hotel is located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.  Renovated in just 2012, it provided us with all the creature comforts you’d expect from a boutique hotel.

Elevators are quite uncommon in the city, however at B Square there is no need to climb the central spiral staircase unless you want to.  Rooms on each floor are serviced by the lift, a nice treat for guests with large suitcases.

Exploring Paris

The Rooms

Guest rooms are spacious by Paris standards. To my surprise, each room has air conditioning as well as some well functioning Wi-Fi. Layouts and colour schemes vary with singles, doubles, deluxe and family rooms are all available to suit the needs of travellers.

Our Superior double room was kitted out with a very comfortable queen sized bed, a rainfall shower and a quintessentially Parisian balcony.

For me. the piece de resistance was when Russ opened the inward facing balcony doors to get a birds eye view over the city. It was here he happily perched on the low stool, sipping an espresso, watching the world go by.   What a life!

The Food

I personally prefer to eat a solid breakfast before a full day of sightseeing but that’s relatively uncommon throughout Europe.

B Square offers a continental breakfast laid out in their lower ground restaurant. Presenting alongside a coffee machine to have your caffeine to your liking is an array of juices, cold meats, pastries, cheese, yogurt, fruit and bread.  From all these choices there’s surely something for all tastes.

Are you like Russ and need multiple espressos to get you started? No problem!

The location

As a fan of the Paris metro, B Square has location on its side. It’s situated in an urban residential area, it’s just a short walk to 2 metro stations;  Rome (line 2) & Place de Clichy (line 13). This is not in a typical tourist area so we found nearby cafes and restaurants are more geared towards a local clientele and adjust their prices accordingly.

For those keen to see Paris on foot, the hotel is within walking distance is the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and the trendy nightlife of Montmartre.  I recommend you pack a little picnic and head up the hill at dusk for incredible views over Paris.

Take the Paris Metro to explore the city. You never know what you’ll find.

Just down the road from B Square is a small supermarket. Perfect for snacks on the go or if you prefer to sit and dine there are multiple restaurants nearby for the real Parisian experience.

Insider tip: Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the nearby undercover market for local bargains.

The staff

B Square is a small boutique hotel so your first point of call for queries should be the 24 hour reception.  The staff are helpfully bi-lingual and can easily provide directions or recommend a quaint hole-in-the-wall cafe nearby.
